Christmas Update

Firstly I am pleased to announce that our sister shop Baby Got Vintage will be having a table at a Vintage and Craft fair on 9th December. The fair is being hosted by Home Cafe in the Woodside Ferry Terminal in Birkenhead. We will also have a selection of christmas cards there too. We're really excited to be doing another fair, even if the stall is more vintage than craft based, so if you're local come by and say hello.

Furthermore we've updated our christmas card photography and are much happier with them this time around, why not check them out on folksy and etsy and let us know what you think.

I'm delighted to say that we've had a really postive response to our christmas range so far and have had a few sales, but don't forget time is running out. Royal Mail's last dates can be found here we suggest ordering a week (2 weeks for international customers) in advance of the final dates to ensure we get them to you in time for Christmas!

What's New?

Evening all!

Has been ages since the last blog, again. I know we keep doing it but at least we've got the excuse of being mega busy with our 4month old son, plus I've had a couple of operations on my knee too. But I definitely promise to try a blog at least once a week from now on!

So I thought we could start by giving you an update on what we've been up to in terms of creating and listing new stock for the shop. We listed a load of cushions that we made for the craft fair in the summer, and have enjoyed a fair few sales which is pleasing.

This bear cushion is my favourite! (Click it, it takes you to the cushion sections of our folksy shop)

In terms of the print side of things we've created a number of mew cards for a number of different occasions! Including this new home card, which I've had designed for ages but haven't gotten round to listing. (Again click it, you'll end up in our etsy shop card section)

So that's the stuff we have done! Now coming very soon we'll have a new line in Wedding Invitations! We already have a few designs finalised, once we get a couple more finished we'll have them up and listed! Here's a sneak peek at a save the date!
And finally, the other reason we've not blogged or been very interactive in etsy & folksy os because we've been sourcing stock for our new shop, and now we are proud to announce that Baby Got Vintage is now open! It's a place to find affordable vintage goods.

Come and say hello at www.babygotvintage.etsy.com!

That's all for now guys, take care and happy crafting!

I've made up a little poster for it, if you could spread the word that would be lovely!

Recycled Packaging Logo

After a discussion on the Folksy forums, I have created this logo for sellers to use on their packaging if they use recycled materials. Please free to use this on your packaging if you wish. I am happy for this to be turned into a stamp if thats how you would prefer to use. The original file is 300 dpi so should be sufficent for printing, if would like a better quality file then i can email one to you.

Folksy Front Page - What did it mean?

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have an item of ours selected to be on the front page of Folksy, as part of the Leaving on a Jet Plane theme.

But after seeing a lot of comments in the forums that being on the front page hadn't brought other sellers any sales we thought that we would share what being on the front page meant for us.

Firstly, we were lucky enough to sell the featured item, which we are really delighted about as it was on its second listing cycle having not sold first time around. It didn't lead to any further sales but it did give some interesting google analytics results...

We had 89 shop visits that day, our best ever. The next best day we had during February was 31 visits, so that's a dramatic difference between the two. On average we had just 12 shop visits a day during the month, so again being on the front page has boosted visits.

Throughout the course of the month we had 119 unique visitors, 88 of which came on the day we were on the front page. Nearly half of all visitors who viewed the cushion on the front then clicked through into other areas of the shop.

So in short, while being on the front page might not always mean lots of sales it does prove to be a great way of getting more (and importantly new) visitors to your shop. It's a great way of free advertising.

Folksy Friday - Valentine's Day Cards

So a new feature for the blog is Folksy Friday, for those that don't know what it is, the basic premise is that we will pick a theme and then select our favourite Folksy items that match the theme. With it being so close to Valentine's Day it seemed only right that our theme be Valentine's Day Cards. Enjoy!
